City of Dallas Draft Assessment of Fair Housing Report

The University of Texas at Arlington has completed a Draft Report of the North Texas Regional Assessment of Fair Housing for the City of Dallas.  Public comments will be received on the report from November 14, 2018 – January 2, 2019.   Please email any comments to AFH@dallascityhall.com or  send by mail to Office of Equity and Human Rights, 1500 Marilla Street, Room 1BN, Dallas, Texas 75201.  You may access the report by clicking on the City of Dallas Draft Assessment of Fair Housing Report (PDF).

The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination through the process of “affirmatively furthering fair housing” (AFFH). The final AFFH rule is intended to provide local governments and public housing authorities more effective means to further the purpose of the Fair Housing Act.

In accordance with the AFFH planning process, the Regional Housing Assessment is divided into three interrelated parts: (1) Data Collection and Fair Housing Analysis; (2) Community Participation; and (3) Development of Goals and Priorities.

The Regional Housing Assessment is a year-long research project taking place from January 2017 through January 2018. The analysis is being performed for each participating jurisdiction as well as the Dallas Fort Worth Metropolitan area which covers 13 counties.

The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex is located in North Central Texas. With more than 7 million people, it is the largest metropolitan area in the south and fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States.
